The runway is now 80 feet!!!!!!!
Recruited a few more geezers this winter, Johnny Large from Greenville, Michigan has thrown his hat in the ring and will be in the
55-59 age group.... His first time back in 40 yrs. Ty Conklin, formerly of Ionia , Michigan has indicated that he intends to get back at
it...I gave both of them a Maxima Trainer. Also took aboard a trained psychological counselor, Don Dawkins, an old friend and fellow
athlete of yesteryear. Don made the cover of Sports Illustrated back in the 70's when he did a marathon....in a wheelchair. He is an
inspiration to me and helps me immensely!!

him a partial pit and some old Gil standards.....

On January 20th, travelled to Clermont, Florida for the outdoor meet at the National Training Center. Did a 9-6 jump and won my age
division, nothing to write home about. Went to Sanabel Island for some R&R the next day and was showing off and did number on
my left ankle......
On February 17 tried the Masters Indoor meet at Ohio Northern and looked like a wounded buffalo limping down the
runway.Results=NH:)
February 24, travelled to Fort Wayne to the Vault High Athletics meet( Paul Babbit's facility)........ankle is still sore and again a NH.
March 3rd, went to the Michigan Masters at Eastern Michigan University, the ankle felt a little better and had one decent jump at 9-6
and decided to spend the rest of the month working in the gym and letting the ankle heal. I also decided to not go the Boston for the
Indoor Nationals March 23 and prepare for the outdoor season. April 7th in Memphis I shall travel for the USATF outdoorMasters
meet at Rhodes, College, the good Lord awillin' and the creek don't rise!!!
Grandson Jake is going to attempt to break the 3M barrier this summer and make it to the Jr.Olympic finals. Daughter Becky
promised her son Jake that she would jump this year in the W35-40 !!!! Son Rob may throw his hat in the ring this year and jump in
the M35-40!!!!!
